Turn your drawing into a Gabbeh!
When you look at the pictures you drew as a child as an adult, it brings back some nostalgia and a little embarrassing, but it's a wonderful memory.
Handmade rugs can be used for a long time and are interior items that will become family memories of the time spent together.
Why not create a unique and free-spirited experience for your family or give it as a gift to someone special?
Children are little designers
Gabbeh is a rustic carpet with a loose weave, making it perfect for children's drawings!
Feel free to draw whatever you want on paper!!
If an adult tries too hard to draw, the pattern will end up being intricate, which will be difficult to reproduce on Gabbeh, so care must be taken.
Feel like a child and have a big heart! Try drawing a big pattern.
It would be fun to draw together with everyone.

Until your Gabbeh arrives
After the design is applied to the Iran, the Gabbeh is completed through the following processes: design drawing → weaving → shirring → washing → drying → finishing.
Not only are they woven, but many people are involved in bringing our handmade rugs to us.
Design drawing
Design drawings are an important tool for accurately weaving Gabbeh, and nowadays, unless the design is very simple, manufacturers and brands provide the design drawings to the weavers and have them weave it.
Woven by hand
The pictures we receive are sent to Shiraz, the home of Gabbeh, where they are carefully woven one by one.
Gabbeh rugs are made by repeatedly tying colored threads to the warp threads stretched on a loom and then threading the weft threads through.
It may seem simple when written down, but it is a very detailed and difficult task.
Shirring
Shirring is the process of cutting and aligning the pile of woven Gabbeh.
This process determines the thickness of the Gabbeh, and Layout prefers a type with slightly longer pile that is fluffy and comfortable to walk on.

wash
The finished rug is washed thoroughly using a large amount of water.
When washing, detergent and fabric softener are used, and many people say that fabric softener is the deciding factor in the gloss and suppleness of the finished rug. I don't think it's some kind of secret fabric softener that was added to an old rug, but perhaps it's some kind of trade secret.

Materials and dyes
The material is made of 100% wool for the warp, weft and colored threads.
Colored threads are generally dyed using natural dyes, but it seems that for some colors, it is becoming more common to dye them with chemical dyes.
For this reason, Layout does not refer to the products as 100% plant-dyed.

There are two sizes!
90cm x 60cm...List price 45,000 yen (+tax)
60cm x 40cm...List price 20,000 yen (+tax)
Both sizes are convenient for use as bedside mats, desk foot pads, or entryway mats.
It will take about three months to arrive
Picture Gabbeh is woven in Iran, not Japan.
Iran is a country where people do things in a relaxed manner.
It's normal to say "Let's do it tomorrow!" even if you have to do it today, and if a management consultant heard that, they'd probably complain, but that's not going to work (laughs).
Layout is a bit like that, but I don't think this style is bad either.
For this reason, please assume that it will take approximately three months for your item to arrive.
There may be some delays due to various local circumstances, but we ask for your understanding as the weavers have worked hard to weave the fabric.

Nomad's Love for Quality
Gabbeh rugs have an indescribable looseness that sets them apart from Persian rugs, which are as delicate and beautiful as miniatures and like works of art.You will often see Gabbeh rugs with crooked or slightly distorted patterns.
Some manufacturers and brands strictly manage and cut these items to match, but at Layout we accept them as they are, cherishing the "nomad quality" we have. (In fact, we sometimes find it amusing and look for such things.)
Even painted Gabbeh pieces may fully express their nomadic characteristics, but please be kind and forgive any slight bends or distortions.
Also, depending on the nomad weaving the fabric, their individuality may come out, but we do this with the best of intentions, so we ask for your understanding.
Modern nomads
This is just our impression though.
When you hear the word "nomad," you might imagine someone traveling on horseback with their sheep in search of pasture, but these days nomads travel by loading their sheep onto trucks.
In fact, I think there are quite a lot of people who have settled here.
I have a smartphone and a flat-screen LCD TV at home.
I have no idea how many of the Qashqai people who weave Gabbeh in Shiraz are settled there, but from a business perspective, I think it would be more stable and easier to ask those who have settled there for work.
I think it's natural to think that convenience is the best thing in life. Forcing our desire for things to be a certain way on them may be a nuisance to them.
There is no doubt that the idea that "Gabbeh = nomad carpet" has been nurtured as part of their culture, and Gabbehs are really comfortable and make us feel happy just looking at them, so they have been our living partners for 20 years in our home, and I think that's fine.

Good visibility of the finish
We create a design drawing from the original design and then weave the fabric using colored threads, but the color may not always be the same. (Just to be safe)
Speaking from my experience, I have seen some Gabbehs that were surprisingly well-made, but I have never seen one that left me so disappointed that I collapsed to my knees, so I think you can rest assured.
