My encounter with rugs began with my encounter with people
There are countless carpet shops in the area.
Layout, which is free from industry ties, continues to walk through bazaars and other places where rugs are likely to be found in each town it visits.
If I find a store that seems to have a rug I like, I will pop in and ask to see the rug.
There are a variety of characters in the shop.
They are the old-fashioned type of people who ask a high price and try to bargain by asking, "How much are you willing to pay?"
There are people who think you are Japanese and will lie to you without any hesitation.
However, there are quite a lot of people who talk about things that are very simple and make you think, ``That's true.''
Strangely enough, there are many such people in stores that have rugs that Layout thinks are "nice."
Layout wants to do business with carpet shops that are a little playful and friendly, with whom we can share a little bit of each other's values and have long-term relationships.
Layout's style is to smile and have fun when purchasing.
The carpet shop owner and the interpreter all joke around and laugh as they talk about rugs.
I feel like the rugs I get in this way somehow bring me happiness.
Nowadays, there are carpet dealers who are so enthusiastic that they send us loads of photos in the middle of the night, asking, "Is this what you guys like?", which can be a bit annoying.

Cleaning and Maintenance
At Layout, we have the rugs we purchase cleaned locally before shipping them to Japan.
"This has already been washed, so it's fine," the locals say, but this is Iran.
Since there are many things that are unclear, I always make sure to have them washed by a reliable dry cleaner.
If a rug is damaged and we feel it needs repairing, we will have it repaired by a local craftsman.
However, there are quite a few rugs where the damage gives them a nice "flavor."
For rugs that we feel are better left unrepaired, we have them shipped to Japan untouched and offer them to our customers as is.
Rug Health Check
Once the rugs arrive in Japan, all of our staff members check their condition.
Washing an old rug can damage it, so inspect it visually and with your hands.
In the local area, it is very common to use staples to attach product number tags and other items to rugs, and even to attach a small tag, they use staples in over a dozen places, so much so that I think they may be consuming more staples than any other country in the world.
Since rugs come into contact with the skin, we carefully inspect them.
If the item is not dried properly after cleaning, you may notice an unpleasant odor.
In such cases, we have the item washed again by a domestic partner before introducing it to the customer.
The beginning of our encounter
