As many of you may know, the Layout staff's love for rugs is so overwhelming that it even impresses owners.
They are like important members of Layout, spending time together every day.
When we inspect new rugs for quality, we carefully check each one and take great pleasure in finding their "good points."
So when a customer's favorite rug leaves, I sometimes feel a complicated mix of emotions, like happiness and sadness...

Layout employs four craftsmen in its own local workshop.
They check the condition of the rugs we purchase and are responsible for finishing and repairing them.
When it comes to handmade rugs, the focus tends to be on the weaving process, but there are many steps involved in completing a rug, and the finishing process is one of the most important steps in determining the value of the rug.
The condition of vintage rugs in particular varies greatly depending on how they are used and stored, so the cleaning process is as important as the repairs.
Local businesses all say that the products have been washed, but it is not possible to verify when, where, or how they were washed.
Even if they have been washed, they may have been stored in a warehouse for a long time or mixed in with dirty rugs, and although it is difficult to tell by appearance, they are often not in good condition.
At Layout, we have our rugs cleaned by local dry cleaning factories, but since each factory has its own specialty, we ask different factories to clean our tribal rugs and Gabbehs.
There are a variety of skilled and not so skilled factories in the area, so we took the time to carefully select a factory that offers reliable Layout quality, checking the finished product.
Rugs that have not been properly cleaned may have dust on them that can cause allergies or odors, so care should be taken when purchasing one.
With the help of many colleagues, we are able to introduce Layout quality rugs to our customers.
