Journey to Iran vol.3

2020.2/14 (Fri) Tehran Purchase Day 2 First Half

Before we get to the second day, I would like to briefly introduce the Ferdousi Hotel, a familiar hotel that we frequent when we stay in Tehran.

Above the entrance stands a prominent statue of Ferdousi, a very famous Iranian poet.
This hotel bakes the naan bread for breakfast on the spot and it's absolutely delicious!!
And the clotted cream in the buffet is really delicious!!
I've been completely captivated by it.
Of course, the staff are also charming and helpful, so this is a recommended hotel where you can feel at ease when you come back.

Now!
On the second day, we head to Jomue Bazaar (flea market) in the morning.
*Dhaka Jom-e means Friday in Persian. Originally, the word means "to gather," and it comes from the fact that everyone gathers at the mosque on Friday (a holiday).

It's a short walk from the Ferdoussi Hotel, and you'll find the entrance after passing through a street lined with clothing stores. However, the main entrance isn't visible in the photo...
The shopping mall where the event is being held is in the direction I am pointing.

I've been taking lots of photos in strange poses, so my family is watching me.

Sneak into Jomue Bazaar!

I immediately went up the spiraling stairs to the venue...

He is an amazing person!
Most of the people were locals, and the train was packed.

I'd like you to look at the yellow pillar in the picture.
The Jomue Bazaar takes place in the parking lot of a shopping mall.

I can't imagine what it looks like normally...
It's so big that I don't even know how many floors it has.

They have everything from antiques and clothing to accessories and of course rugs.

What I regret not buying this time is this poster for an old Iranian movie?
It was a tattered poster, but it had a very nice atmosphere.

Ahh! I should have bought it! I regret it every time I look at this photo.
You have to make sure you get what you're interested in.
I hope to see you again next time!

The reason I came to Jomue Bazaar this time was to buy the galamkar (Persian chintz) bag that I had found last time.
I have no memory of where the store was, so I just walk around.

discovery!

You've found the store you're looking for!
Maybe some of you here look familiar.

Now, this is where we get serious.
I'll start by choosing the cutest ones. I'm trying my best! (laughs)

It must have been a real shopping spree as they picked out everything, this and that.
I don't care about what other people think, and I think I'm having a lot of fun.

After I was able to buy the bag I wanted, I looked at rugs and went to say hello to the man selling mugs who was there last time, and before I knew it, time had passed.

Iranian Gourmet

We were tired from walking and hungry.
We decided to go to eat Jigyal (Liver) kebabs, which was recommended by our interpreter, Mr. A.

You can order what you want to eat at the store and have it cooked for you.
For some reason, this restaurant is a BBQ style establishment located in the middle of the road. It smells delicious!

The naan is also baked in a kiln on the spot. Freshly baked naan is so delicious!
This large naan is filled with grilled liver and vegetables and eaten.
It has a slightly unusual flavor, but if you like lamb, you should definitely try Jigyal. You'll definitely be hooked.

The total for three people was just over 1,000 yen. Delicious, fast and cheap!
Iranian cuisine is the best.
