Journey to Iran vol.14

2020.2/18 (Tue) Mashhad → Shiraz Purchasing Day 6

Searching for lag until the last minute

The next day, I continued searching for rugs in Mashhad until the last minute before my flight.
Selecting from the piles of rugs in this underground space is like a treasure hunt and is a truly happy moment!
This town is home to many Baluchi and Turkmen rugs, so I chose only tribal rugs.

It's a race against time, so I'm working hard. (laughs)
We also found a rug here that appears to be Rayleigh (a female name)!

The Old Tribal Area, where this underground warehouse is located, is one of the places Layout always visits when he visits Mashhad.
The guys I pass by always smile when I point the camera at them ☺
There's a laid back atmosphere and I love it.
Rugs piled up on people and cars, a sight you'd hardly ever see in Japan.

There are many people who run their businesses as a family, and every time I go there I want to go and see how their father is doing, how their grandfather is doing.

I found a cute one on the shiny green rug!
How do these men feel when they see this child?

Let's head to the next town!

We waited until the last minute to choose a rug and then rushed to the airport.
At the last moment, I discovered a cute little corner on the grounds of Mashhad airport. It had a beautiful symmetry, but unfortunately the roads were still quite bumpy.
This is a common thing in Iran.

With the delicious lamb chops still fresh in our minds, we head from Mashhad to Shiraz, the home of Gabbeh!

The journey is still on.
