2020.2/16 (Sun) Mashhad Purchase Day 4, Second Half
I would like to introduce some of the rug designs that I learned about in Mashhad.
You'll want to say "Baazoo Bundy" without thinking.
بازوبندی literally translates to "armband".

The design features turtle shell-like motifs connected like a bracelet. I heard that it's a band design worn by strong people, but what kind of strong people are they?
Arm wrestling champion?
It certainly does look like a championship belt!
I hope to investigate this further and introduce it to you again.
"Philpar" seems to be quite fast
فیل پا literally translates to "elephant's foot".

I've seen that the gul design is also said to be an elephant's foot design, and in Mashhad this type of Baluchi rug was called a firpah, so there seems to be a connection!
I couldn't immediately remember what an elephant's foot looked like, so I looked it up.
Indeed, the footprints may look something like this!
The person who came up with this name has a great imagination.
Whenever I choose a rug, I am bombarded with questions like, "What design is this?" and "How do you write it?"
I always check the large rugs on the rooftop under blue skies.
The weather is generally nice so it feels great ☺

My favorite here is this Baluchi old rug.

The overall design is very cool, but there is one orange motif on the border (outer frame).
There's really only one thing.
There's also a great play in the middle where the motif, which has always been woven in red, is made white for that row!
It's really lovely to make discoveries like this.
It's a large size, about 300 x 200 cm, but it's very charming.
We had just arrived in Mashhad that morning, so we decided to go out to dinner with Golamy and his friends afterwards.
Whenever I come to Mashhad, I always take him to try some of the delicious Mashhad specialties!
