This year has been colder than usual, but Okinawa has been in full summer mode recently! It's getting to the point where you can get by in just a T-shirt! I'm sensitive to heat, so I can't let go of a cold drink (lol).
Today, I would like to introduce a piece that recently arrived at the Plaza House store.
This rug catches your eye at first glance and is filled with various patterns, making it look like a treasure chest of designs. Each design is large and has a strong presence.
Now let's take a closer look!
At the center of the design is a motif called a "medallion" that stands out.
This is a design that is often seen on rugs from the Shiraz region in southwestern Iran. I actually particularly like Shiraz rugs, and secretly hope to visit Shiraz if I ever get the chance to go to Iran. It would be great if I could choose my favorite rug from the many available there! But on the other hand, there might be too many to choose from (lol).
Doesn't this pattern in the medallion look like the lanterns hanging at summer festivals? It's a cute lantern accented with a flower woven into the center. With summer fast approaching, thinking about it made me suddenly want to go to a festival (lol).
Another thing to pay attention to is the pattern that lines the edge of the rug.
I was looking at it wondering if it looked like something, and then suddenly I remembered!
Yes, it's a heart-shaped letter that I used to make with origami with my friends when I was in elementary school! In the letters, I wrote things that elementary school students usually write, like "Today's school lunch is XX! I'm looking forward to it!" or "XX seems to like so-and-so!" (lol)
Looking at rugs brings back memories of those silly but wonderful days of my youth.
The size is 165 x 123 cm, which is just right for placing in the living room or beside the bed.
If it were me, I'd put it next to my bed and look at it at the beginning and end of each day.
