Everyone
Hello, good evening.
It's been a while! Today, Higa will be bringing you RUG is Good from the Plaza House store in Okinawa.
Before I knew it, it was already mid-April.
Many of you have changed your environment since April, but have you gotten used to it?
Whether you've changed or stayed the same, April is a month when you feel like starting something new and are excited to do so.
This time we would like to introduce you to a Baluchi rug that will bring you some relaxation during the busy days of April.
A soft red with a hint of pink.
But I like that it's not too red.
It recently arrived at the Plaza House store, but at first I wasn't too interested in it.
But the more I looked, the more cute points I found.
I've fallen into this kid's swamp...
It's packed with attention to detail and is full of charm, so I'll take my time to introduce it to you.
Cute Point ①
A motif that can also be seen on glass windows
It looks like something you'd see in a castle or palace.
I can imagine a princess standing through the glass window gazing at the sky.
The prince watches from afar...
I feel like I can already write a story about it (laughs).
The white wave-like pattern that surrounds it is pink inside.
If you look closely, you'll see that different shades of pink alternate, which is another point that really makes my heart flutter, as it shows the attention to detail.
Cute Point 2
If you look closely at the jagged pattern that surrounds it,
Pink inside again 💗
The attention to detail is so great that you'll wonder if they really paid that much attention to detail.
Rugs are woven one row at a time, so you can tell that they must have been woven with great care and calculation. The person who wove this rug must be a very stylish person.
We also have a close-up of a Baluchi leaf with a very cute color combination.
I always thought it looked like some kind of pattern, and it turned out to be the Canadian flag!
It all clicked today and I felt so relieved!
By the way, according to Google, the leaf motif on the Canadian flag is a maple leaf (the source of the famous maple syrup), which symbolizes life in Canada's harsh natural environment and the wisdom of its indigenous people.
When you were little, did you ever fold origami paper into small pieces and snip off the edges to make snowflake patterns? I remember having fun and playing around with it a lot.
It seems like it would be a bit difficult to cut a pattern like this rug.
Also, when I was a student, I went to Taiwan to study abroad.
During the Chinese New Year, people put up Spring Couplets (photo left) all over the place, like on walls and in entranceways, and this rug reminded me of that. They are meant to bring good fortune and money into the home.
This rug is global, with a Canadian and Chinese feel at the same time.
I couldn't take good photos in the store,
The way the light shone through and illuminated it was very beautiful and romantic.
It would look good under the dining room, but I would also like to put it in the living room where light comes in.
Of course it looks great in photos, but it's best to see it in person to really appreciate its charm.
Please come and see the real thing!
