"Designing your life through rugs"

Recently, I've been having fun thinking about interior design.

Customers often tell me through rugs what kind of interior they like and how they spend their time, so I can't stop fantasizing about what kind of room I would like to have.

When I ask myself, "What do I think about first when thinking about interior design?", I think it's probably the rug.

As per our concept of "designing your lifestyle through rugs," my ideal interior design would not be possible without rugs.

Today, I would like to imagine the interior design based on a single rug!

The piece that I intuitively chose to introduce to you is of the Baluchi people of the town of Zabol, and in particular it is a vintage tribal piece by a group locally known as Fatul Lakhani.

I really love Zabol Baluchi rugs.

This rug measures 233 x 123 cm and features a calming beige-brown tone on a wine-red background with orange accents.

I especially love how the corners curl up.

I feel like the elongated diamond shape gives this rug an even sleek and smart impression.

The first image that came to mind was a dining scene with a round table.

I would like to place a round teak table about 1m in diameter and two of my favorite chairs on it.

The table is extendable and can seat four people, making full use of its length of 233cm.

If you're an interior design lover, you probably have plenty of chairs in your home, so when friends and family come over, you can gather the chairs and everyone can gather around the table.

I found a lovely pendant light with a calming amber glass shade at a vintage shop and placed it on the table. It will create a sophisticated dining scene.

Many people may feel that a rug of this size is too narrow and long to place in front of a sofa, but that is not the case.

I don't think there is a perfect size rug for a sofa or room.

Even if we put the same sofa in a room of the same size, how we spend our time in that space will be different for each person. What is important is how we ourselves, the people living there, can spend our time happily and comfortably.

My sofa is a three-seater, so it's 210cm wide and the rug is 233cm long.
With the current furniture arrangement, the distance from the sofa to the TV stand is less than 2m, so I would actually prefer it to be longer and narrower.

Since we eat in the dining room, we keep things neat and tidy with a small side table that is large enough to hold coffee and a few snacks.

Even if I have friends over, I don't think they'll sit around the coffee table in front of the sofa, so having a space where one or two people can occasionally sit on the rug and stretch will be enough.

If you think about it, it's the perfect size!

Knowing me, I'm sure I'll want to redecorate and get a single-seater lounge chair.

In such cases, you may want to combine it with a smaller size and enjoy using two of them.

I brought the rug that was placed next to my bed, which has a completely different color and design, into the living room and tried matching it together.
If you create a place for the furniture with a rug, your new lounge chair will look like it's been there forever, creating a relaxing space.

Once you find your favorite rug like this, think about what furniture you want to pair it with and what kind of occasion you want to style it for, and I think you'll be able to live with your favorite rug for a long time.
