My thoughts are often influenced by the picture books and books I read in my childhood.
So when I see a rug, I think to myself, "Oh! It looks like that scene from that story!" or "This color seems like it would be in the palette of that picture book author," and I live my life immersed in a world of fantasy.
Now, here is a rug with lots of houses lined up.
When Komatsu looked this way, his antenna lit up because it reminded me of that scene from his favorite picture book, where a cityscape like that of a foreign country with many buildings lined up came to mind .

Some of you may know Virginia Lee Burton's "The Little House"
Disney has also published a picture book titled "The Little House."
It is also famous for being illustrated by my favorite artist, Mary Blair.
This is a Disney film, as you'd expect! The house is personified, and as a child I cried and smiled along with the house, making it a truly emotional piece.
I lived happily in my small house in a quiet part of the countryside, watching the surrounding scenery and sky change with the seasons every day, but I'm starting to yearn for the city.
One day, bigger and bigger buildings start to appear around them...

These tiny houses lined up in a cramped position reminded me of the illustrations in that picture book...I'm in trouble.
Once that happens, this rug becomes something very special.
The small house in the corner of the big city is so bright that you can't see the stars at night...
It's a very nostalgic story about a man who, from a city where the scenery around him remains the same even as the seasons change, fondly recalls the scenery of the countryside of the past...
I've loved the words "house" and "townscape" ever since I was little.
Toy house models, printed bags and handkerchiefs,
Now that I think about it, I seem to have had a lot of art books depicting townscapes.
Also, I think that ever since I was little I've been interested in and like places and events that somehow make me feel nostalgic, even though I've never experienced or been there.
I've been thinking lately that "things you love" have incredible power.

What if this rug was made by a weaver who lived in a small house in the countryside, far from the city, like the one in "Little House"?
I wonder if she wove it thinking of a place she would like to live in...or if she wove it while thinking of a townscape she saw somewhere overseas...
Just thinking about it makes it seem like a rug filled with dreams, and it makes me feel very emotional.

And one more thing.
I love seeing the rows of houses from the train on my way home from work.
A glimpse of each person's life through the lit window.
I think that each person has their own way of life there, and that they end the day thinking about various things, having fun, and overcoming challenges.
It gives me a sense of security and nostalgia that I can't describe.

This rug looks like a painting, and it also makes you feel like you're flying in the sky. I laid it out in the living room and looked at it while watching the light coming in through the window...
I found another adorable rug like this.
