"Snowing Rug"

The first day of Layout's store opening in 2022 was marked by a rare heavy snowfall in early January!
The Meguro River is also pure white, like another world.

I found the perfect rug for these cold, snowy days.

Look! Doesn't it look like a snowflake?
My name is Hirai and I loved experiments like looking at snowflakes under a microscope.
Snow crystals come in many different shapes, so it's likely there's at least one like this.
Each shape has a name, such as "Jushirokka" (Six Flowers of Tree Branches) and "Jushitsukikakuban" (Square Board with Tree Branches), and the world of crystals seems fascinating.

Since I have the chance, I'll try to give this crystal a name.
Perhaps it could be called "Wrapped Horned Flower Diamond" ?

The undyed wool in this snow-like field, where no one has set foot yet and makes you want to jump in, is so beautiful!

This is a new Gabbeh with a relatively fine weave, but it's not very thick, so I think it would hurt a little if you actually jumped into it.
But she's so soft and beautiful that it makes you want to jump in anyway! She's a beauty!

If I hadn't made eye contact with this girl in the store on a snowy day, I might not have seen her this way, so I'm happy about this inevitable encounter!

One of the great joys of rugs is that they can look different and tell different stories depending on who, when, and where they encounter them.

A great invention!? The bicycle of the future

This is surprisingly unrelated to the cute snow motif from earlier, but for some reason I just couldn't help but see something, so I'd like to share it with you.

The magnificent spiral horns of goats and sheep look like the handlebars of a road bike...
It reminded me of advanced cyclists using this type of handlebar.

So there is indeed a saddle in the middle and pedals next to it.
The saddle is large and feels very stable.
I don't like using proper bicycle saddles because my butt gets sore easily, but this one looks comfortable.
The shape of the pedals is also very realistic, isn't it?

But since there is one saddle and pedals and handlebars on both the front and back, doesn't this mean you can ride it in either direction?
No, it's possible that two people could be riding back to back.
This bike could be pretty fun!

Check the details

If you take a closer look at the motif, you'll see that although it looks simple, it's actually a very elaborate design!

The motif of lots of small fruits is woven into the curved parts without forgetting, and the branches and trunks are subtly made in two colors, showing the attention to detail.

The edges of the fringe, which are not visible from the outside, are subtly decorated in brown and gray, and the edges are the same color, giving the rug a unified look.

They were there again this time, in the fun corners of the border!
There is a small motif in the top right corner that is tightly packed at the edge, and it is doing its best to balance the overall border part.

Smile

This fair-skinned beauty looks great with the green in the room, and would also look good with a dark brown floor like the one in the Layout shop.

From this angle, it looks like she's smiling, which is also cute. ☺

The cold weather is still ahead, but we look forward to seeing lots of smiling faces here again in 2022!
