"The Red of Desire"

Hello

The dazzling summer is over, and the dazzling autumn is coming...

I'm looking forward to a beautiful autumn.

For this edition of RUG is Good , my theme is " red ."

Red and white for auspicious occasions. Red to call attention. Red in Sentai shows! These are all important colors. However, in everyday life, red is just one of many colors, and we don't think of it as a special color.

I rarely choose red for clothes or other personal items.

But as I spend my days in the store looking at different rugs, I realise I love red rugs!

When people come looking for a rug, for some reason I always spread out my favorite red rug at the time and comment on how lovely it is!

I did a little research like a summer vacation project.

The color red in Japan dates back to the time when it originated from minerals and earth (used for burials and to ward off evil spirits), to the red of thread dyed with madder. It seems that it evolved into crimson and thread red, which used red derived from safflower, which was introduced from the continent, and has been used as a special color. The red of safflower was rare, and only people of high rank could wear it, so it became all the rage.

Despite this, the use of red all over the place is not something that is common in Japanese living environments.

On the other hand, the color red in Iran seems to have taken root in the living environment as seen in the red of carpets.

Nomadic tents and carpet floors made from livestock wool initially came in the color of raw sheep wool, but threads dyed with familiar plants such as madder added color to people's lives.

It is said that the red color of Iran is used to block the heat reflected from the ground illuminated by the strong sunlight in Iran, and the red of Iran feels familiar and inevitable.

There are so many different shades of red in rugs.

Even with a single red rug, I am drawn to the red that is not just one shade of red but a myriad of shades of red, whether intentional or not.

This rug is my current favorite !

Like most reds, the red you think is normal is sometimes lighter, sometimes darker, sometimes leaning more towards brown, and sometimes more orange.

In today's world where anything can be explained, this ambiguity is wonderful!

I don't think you could get this kind of texture with a red generated by a supercomputer!

Although the pattern appears to be straight, there are actually small rounded details that make the vague red look softer. The sheen of the wool also adds to the charm!

Although it's a red rug, I haven't laid it out yet...

...The coveted red rug.

So I always ask people who use it, "What do you think of the red rug?"

Everyone tells me, "It's great!" The most common thing I hear is that it goes well with wood floors and furniture.

The floors are mostly wood-grain, and the furniture is mostly wood-grain as well. Considering this, the red that has been passed down in the Iranian climate seems to blend in well with our current living environment, and the ambiguous gradation may even be soothing.

If you're wondering how about red?

There are always a variety of reds available in the store.
