Hello.
This report is brought to you by Uchii, who went on three camping trips with her soccer-obsessed husband.
That day, there was a cold wave (the lowest temperature was 12°C, but the wind was blowing at over 10m/s, so it was really cold!)
I watched the game while munching on a hot cafe latte and a steaming hot steamed bun.
I was living in Nagoya until this time last year, so my favorite team is Nagoya Grampus, but I couldn't make it this time...
I'll save it for next year's camping trip!
And now it's baseball camp!
The hotel near the shop seems to be the place where players from a certain baseball team stay.
The streets are filled with energy from fans wearing cheering uniforms.
The weather is forecast to be bad this week, but hopefully it will improve!
Well, the rug I'd like to introduce today is
This is perfect for the mood at our Okinawa store, where spring has passed and summer days are continuing.

guardian deity
Commonly known as: Shisa rug
It's just a random nickname
The staff at the Okinawa store all know which rug you are talking about!
I'm sure you all know where you are.

What is a Shisa?
In Okinawa, Shisa are found everywhere, at the entrances of buildings and on rooftops.
It is believed to protect you from magic (demons).
The roots of the Shisa lie in ancient Egypt.
It is said that lion statues from the ancient Orient were brought to Okinawa via China.
In Egypt and the Middle East, lions are symbols of royal power, wealth, and holiness.
It's also a familiar motif in rugs!
The weaver, who probably had no idea what a shisa was, may have been weaving it with the intention of making it a lion.
The surrounding flowers look like hibiscus, giving it an even more Okinawan feel!

Speaking of hibiscus.
A while ago, I came across a rare variety just like the one on the right above!

Veronica veronica
Apparently it was often planted in home gardens in the past, but this was the first time I'd seen it.
It has a charming ephemeral quality like a sparkler.
If you see it, you're lucky!

In addition to the Shisa, there are also kermacs, which are patterns to ward off evil spirits,
The deer prays for family harmony, while the bird is a messenger of God who brings happiness.
All the children are happy and have lovely colors.
Recommended for places like this
I would love to have such an auspicious rug placed in my entrance hall!!
I'm sure the Shisa will become the guardian deity of your home and bring you happiness!
