"Karma is fickle"

One of the charms of rugs is that they show different expressions depending on the angle from which you view them, and this rug is no exception, as it changes its appearance constantly, providing you with a lot of fun.
What's particularly noteworthy is not just the colorful use of colors, but the way it blends in with any room, even though it uses so many colors.

Speaking of "changing expressions + colorful + blending in with the surroundings"...

chameleon

Yes, that's the only thing I could think of.

But the title "Chameleon" is a bit too weird...

Well, just as I was wondering what to do!!
I had a flashback to my youth.

Yes, if you're from the generation that enjoyed Kobayashi Katsuya's light-hearted talk on the legendary music program "Best Hit USA," you'll already know what I'm talking about!

The title of this article comes from the Japanese title of the hit song "Karma Chameleon" by the 1980s British rock band Culture Club, which means "Karma is Whimsical."

I still remember how inspiring the lead singer Boy George was at the time with his unique makeup and colorful, eccentric fashion.

That was a long introduction, let's get to the point.

It's cute.

The colorful motifs towering on either side of the rug look like totem poles or cacti.
But above all, the cute thing that looked like the top of Namihei's head, perched atop the top with an apologetic look on it, really captured my heart.

They gaze at each other gently.

The motif in the center of the rug looks to me like two birds with colorful feathers looking at each other. What do you think?
And from here, let your imagination expand even more, more and more...dondon...DONDON...

Yes, can you see it now? There are three red squares with patterns in the center. Two of them are in the position of the bird's face, and the remaining one is in the center, guiding the birds on either side.
I could see it, I could see it completely.

Is this a wedding where people are portrayed as birds and no faces are shown?
The man in the center is a priest who also doesn't want his face shown.
Father? Let's put aside religious matters for now.

A lucky charm?

The letter "S," which is said to be a talismanic motif, is scattered all over the rug.
This rug may seem a little over the top with its large number of talismanic motifs, like a family watching over a happy wedding couple, but it is a testament to the craftsmanship of the tradition. The right spear at the bottom center is slightly shifted to create a sense of openness. (No. 71696)
I think that's the aim!
There's also a bit of distortion.
I would like to think that this is a heartfelt message from the weaver that life isn't always easy, but that's probably not the case.

What color is delicious?

This rug has some dents where the pile is gone in places.
This is because the wool-eating bugs have only eaten the tasty wool yarn parts.
Normally I would have repaired it on site, but it was so cute that I just washed it and brought it with me.
It creates a beautiful three-dimensional effect, as if the pile had been deliberately shaved.

How to use it?

Actually, this rug is a twin.
They are almost the same size (90x58 and 89x60), so they are great to use as a pair.
It's an accent size, so it should be very useful in the entrance, bedside, in front of a full-length mirror, in a child's room, etc.

This time, we'd like to introduce some rugs that will make you smile just by looking at them!
