This month's recommendation [April 2019]

Enjoying eclectic interiors through rugs

When choosing interior items, have you ever had the experience of eliminating an item that you really like because it doesn't fit in your room? It's a strange thing to not be able to put something you like in your room. But I think many people have had the same experience.

This issue's "recommended rugs" may provide some interior design inspiration for those of you struggling with the dilemma of not being able to match "what you want" with "what suits your room."

Enjoy this month's extremely personal column from the Layout staff.

You may not already know the rug we'd like to recommend this month. It's the "Happy Lion" lion rug, which you've probably seen if you've visited a Layout store or followed Layout on Instagram.

Just to be safe, let me introduce this rug again for those of you who have never seen it before.

Lion rugs are woven with tribal and Persian lion designs. They come in a variety of designs, such as a lion holding a sharp sword in its hand or carrying a sun with a face on its back. They are extremely popular among Layout's customers, so when we come across a fun lion rug while shopping, we can't help but bring it home with us.

Impactful design

Lion rugs are not just rugs with lion patterns. Each one is very impactful. The vivid colors and charming expressions of the lions are unforgettable once you see them. This rug in particular has an expression that is hard to describe. It is drawn with a surreal, cartoon-like touch, so even though the lion has a happy face, you can't tell what it's thinking, which is strangely appealing.

Easy-to-use size

Lion rugs are often available in accent sizes that are slightly smaller than living room sizes, such as 150cm x 100cm or 180cm x 120cm. This rug is 150cm x 100cm. By coordinating it in a creative way, it can be styled anywhere.

How to use it

If I were to put this rug down, I would put it in front of the sofa in the living room.

The size may seem a little small, but it's up to you to figure it out. I use a flat-woven rug in the summer and a large, brightly colored pile rug in the winter, and layer this rug on top as an accent. Mixing textures is what I'm into at the moment.

Is it really okay to add an item with such a strong impact and yet another item with texture?

Many people probably think that rugs with striking colors and patterns are "difficult to coordinate" or "for advanced users."

However, it is actually very easy to make use of "unique patterns."

Staff I believe it will become popular in the future.

Eclectic

We would like to introduce this style to you.

Eclecticism, as the name suggests, is a mixed-style interior that combines items of various styles.

By carefully selecting and styling your favorite items without being bound by rules, you can create a room that highlights your unique sense. Of course, it's important to consider the balance with the overall look, but you can also explore this while redecorating in your daily life. Accent-sized rugs with impactful designs that can be used in a variety of ways are perfect for creating a unique room!

Take inspiration from the styles that combine lots of pop colors seen in stylish foreign films like "Amelie" and "Simple Simon," and start by picking up something that catches your eye.

Even if you really like patterned items, don't rule them out because they don't suit your room. Instead, it's your own room, so why not think together about how you can incorporate your favorite things into your room? If you're having trouble deciding, please come to the Layout store for advice.
