This month's recommendation [June 2019]

Thinking about how to coordinate two rugs

Hello.

This is Staff I, who is working hard every day to add new information to the website.

This month's rug column will be written by me.

This month's favourite styling

I found something interesting on the "USER'S REPORT" page on the Layout website, so I'd like to introduce it to you.

She is trying out styling that combines two accent-sized pieces. It's not too sweet, not too cool, it's an exquisite balance.

This time, I would like to use this room as a hint to think about coordinating two rugs. Please bear with me.

An opportunity to put two rugs side by side

When you think back, there are actually quite a few occasions when you think about combining two rugs.

For smaller items, choose two chair mats. Even though they are small, they are unique pieces, so you can combine different designs.

Even when the living room and dining room are in one continuous space, it is common to zone each area with a rug, but here too the combination of the two pieces is an important point to consider.

You may be thinking about adding another rug to your existing collection.

Recently, more and more people are combining accent-sized rugs, as in the example introduced at the beginning.

Try choosing one

Since each rug is unique, the possibilities for combinations are endless.

Some people may be at a loss as to how to choose.

However, once you get the hang of it, combining rugs can be a lot of fun.

We'll introduce you to some little tips, so if you're having trouble choosing a rug in a store, be sure to remember them.

Three Tips

Similar colors

If you're having trouble deciding which rug to pair, the first thing you should try is combining rugs with similar colors.

I found twins with the same frame color. They set off together♪

・Add contrast

It may seem counterintuitive, but it's also a good idea to combine pieces with contrasting design elements.

Two rugs that are completely different, such as a thin one and a thick one, a simple design and a decorative one, a medallion and an all-over pattern, or a monochrome and a colorful one, but that use the same color somewhere or share a motif, can look surprisingly good when placed side by side.

Simple turtles and decorative tribal designs go well together.

・Follow your heart's desire

If you know for yourself what you really want, you may not even need to read this column, but I would encourage you to simply combine things that resonate with you.

Living surrounded by things you love is the first step to creating a room that is truly yours. Once you've laid down a rug, your ambitions will likely expand as you think about how you want to make your room even more unique.

How to combine tribal and Persian. Also from USER'S REPORT.

So, I chose what my heart desired.

Staff member I lives alone, but has his own bedroom at his parents' house. He hasn't changed his bedroom style much since he was a child, so it's about time he did something about it. Today, he chose a rug with the idea of putting it in that room in mind.

The first rug is an old one with worn pile and a soft, faded color. It's thin, so it pairs well with other rugs. This rug will be placed in the center of the room as a base.

The second piece is a beautiful Shiraz rug with a gray gradation and a horse running past. It's thick, so I like to place it close to the bed.

To match this rug, I recommend bright colored bed linens.

Slippers arranged on a horse rug, a bedside cabinet, an industrial table lamp.

The image of the area around the bed continues to expand.

Aim for an atmospheric adult woman's room!
