How I found out about Layout

I happened to find this shop while searching online for interior design shops on Meguro-dori, so I stopped by on my way home.

What made you want a rug?

I like YouTube videos that introduce vintage furniture and miscellaneous goods, and I was looking for a Persian carpet that would fit the atmosphere of the room. At first, I started by buying Gabbehs and small handmade rugs to place on chairs, and little by little I expanded my image of what we liked and what would suit the room. I was afraid to buy something big right away, so I had a machine-woven Persian carpet, but I ended up wanting a hand-woven one, and decided to buy one on my second visit to the store.

The deciding factor in choosing the rug

I went to the store with a rough idea in mind, so I thought I'd be able to make a decision quickly, but when I actually saw each rug with my own eyes, I found each one had its good points and it was really hard to choose. I bought two rugs at the same time in different sizes, but in the end I chose the one that looked best on first sight. I think it's all about trusting your instincts.

My impressions after laying the rug

I've experienced in the past that colors seen in stores can be slightly different from the colors seen in my own home, but I took that into consideration when making my choice, so I'm very happy. This cute rug has made me love my room even more. I think handwoven rugs have a certain charm to them.

Concerns and concerns about lag

I change the rugs in my living room with each season, but I'm wondering how to store old rugs when I'm not using them. (Should I fold them or roll them up? Where should I store them? Should I use insect repellent to prevent them from being eaten by insects?)

Other advice for those looking for a rug

First of all, size. The size you see in the store will definitely be different from how it feels at home, so it's a good idea to measure in advance where you can place each item and what size you need so you don't regret it later.
The next thing to do is to look at as much as you can. At first, there's so much to choose from that you won't know what to do, but gradually you'll narrow down the patterns and colors that you like. Many stores have tags on the back that tell you the origin of the products, and you'll start to get a sense of your preferences, realizing that you like products from certain places. You might be a nuisance to the store staff, but it's a lot of fun to flip through the tags and try your hand at guessing the origin.
It's fine if you're just a beginner, but if you study the general characteristics of each producing area, choosing a rug will be much more fun. Rugs are meant to be laid in your home, but the most fun part is actually thinking about it before you buy it. Rugs cost a fair amount, so you'll want to enjoy the experience both before and after you buy them.
