Daily Life from an Interior Perspective Vol.15

FAH Co., Ltd. Hiroki Sueyoshi's serial blog 15

15th time.

It's almost been a year since I launched my own company, FAH Inc., on February 5, 2020.
Suddenly, the time for independence came.
I started out with a mixture of excitement and anxiety.

What I think now is, "I've gotten to know myself better, and I'll be fine."
Lately, I've been thinking a lot, "If I don't try, I'll lose out and it won't work."

I thought I could take on the challenge if I had the time and money.
In reality, time and money are manageable.

Yes, the spirit of challenge is everything.
I finally realized this obvious fact.

And any challenge is good.
A reckless challenge.
A simple challenge.
A silly challenge.
If I can change myself a little, then the challenge will be a success.

There is no such thing as failure.

Let's give it a try.

What will you challenge yourself to do in 2021?

So, let's get to the main topic.

"Let's think about the future of interior design"

Before thinking about the future, I would like to look back at the past.

When was interior design born?

If we define interior design as the things inside a house, then homes (places to live) and interior design were born almost at the same time.

In short, the history of humanity is the history of interior design.

Counting from the Stone Age, it dates back 2 million years.

Interiors have evolved along with humanity.

I'd like to take a moment to think about the future of interior design.

First of all, I think 2020 was a year of major change for interior design.

Due to the impact of the coronavirus worldwide, people are spending a lot more time at home, which inevitably leads to more thoughts about interior design.

For someone like me who loves being at home, this isn't a big change, but this year has made me think about spending time at home more than ever before.
I'm sure many of you have created spaces that are suitable for teleworking.

This is where the main topic begins.

My future vision for interior design.

First of all, I think urban lifestyles will gradually change, and more people will live in the suburbs or countryside, including as second homes.

There are two reasons.

Remote work.

The expansion of autonomous driving. (I feel like this will take 10 years...)

In short, I think the need to be in the city will decrease within the next five years.

Urban housing tends to be compact in size.

Suburban homes tend to have larger spaces, making it possible to create interiors that resemble those found in homes overseas.

Large sofa.
Large table.
A comfortable personal chair.
Sideboard etc.

This allows for more spacious furniture arrangement, which is something that urban interiors tend to end up with similar layouts.

I expect that the lifestyles of people living abroad will become more unique.

The culture of renovation is also spreading.

It has also become commonplace to make the space larger.

Many people are now doing DIY.

The word "interior" has also become a common language used by many people.

I think this will further accelerate the trend towards playful interiors.

It's especially going to be fun from now on...

art.

illumination.

Object.

green.

Rug.

I feel like an interior that makes use of the above items will be even more exciting.

Among these, I think the key point is how to enjoy the wall surface.

Interior design enthusiasts are already enjoying it.

Extra things make interior design fun.

In other words, the interior is more exciting.

And the interior is deeper.

So, in a way, the interior becomes more difficult.

That's what I predict.

I feel like there's going to be an interior design boom.

(Including personal expectations)

After the camping boom comes the interior design boom.

The overseas way of enjoying interior design is spreading to Japan.

In fact, I don't think there is anyone who isn't interested in interior design.

The interior continues to evolve.

We hope to continue to not only bring joy to interior design, but also to propose the future of interior design.

I will give it a try!

10 years from now, 100 years from now

I'm really looking forward to the interior.

SUEYOSHI HIROKI

Representative Director of FAH Co., Ltd.
Born in Hiroshima in 1985, raised in Kyoto, and lived in Canada for one year.
At the age of 20, she entered an interior design shop and was so impressed that she decided to work in the interior design industry. From the age of 23 to 35, she worked at an interior design shop in Hiroshima. She strives to be a "chameleon coordinator" who can materialize the client's ideal lifestyle and interior design, rather than catering to her own preferences.
FAH Co., Ltd. was established in 2020.
I am constantly challenging myself to make interior design fun, whether it be for private homes, model homes and rooms, or commercial (hotels, restaurants, etc.) product development.
