Everyday life seen from the interior Vol.5

Serial blog ⑤ by Hiroki Sueyoshi of FAH Co., Ltd.

Well, this is my fifth blog post. I've written five blogs, and something suddenly occurred to me.

How many times do I have to write a blog before I can call myself a "blogger"?

First of all, is it a matter of the number of times? Is it okay if I post a blog on my own website?
Or maybe I can make money from blogging? And so on...
My imagination just keeps growing. Now I want an answer.
Thirty years ago, I would have pulled out a dictionary and looked it up, or asked someone knowledgeable about it.

However, it's now 2020. We have Google in our pockets. Let's look it up...

"A general term for people who publish blogs." From the Digital Daijisen dictionary.
Yes, I was a great blogger.

I'm happy to have a title for anything, so this was a very happy thing for me.

Well, the theme of this blog post by blogger Sueyoshi is, "What is dining anyway?"

Dining room is a dining room in a house (a place where the whole family eats together). It is also called a dining room. I think this dictionary definition is correct.

Originally, a lifestyle similar to that of Sazae-san was common in Japan.
The family gathers around a low table and relaxes there after the meal.

However, recently, due to the influence of Western styles, it has become common to separate the living room and dining room. (Note: Although the living and dining room are in one room, the two zones are separate.)

To be honest, there is no right or wrong answer. Recently, in Japan, the LD style has become popular, where people eat meals by combining a low dining table with a sofa in the living room.

It depends on the shape and condition of the room and the family structure. However, it is not often seen in the West.
One reason is the size of the house. However, even in Western cities, some homes don't have large rooms, and even in those cases, the living room and dining room are separate.

From here on, this is just my personal interpretation and opinion, but I believe that the purpose and the objects that people look at are different in the living room and dining room.

First, the purpose.
Dining = eating, living = relaxing.
Dining room = people (family, acquaintances, friends) Sofa = TV, books, fireplace, etc. I think this difference is very big.
I wrote about the difference between the dining room and the living room.

The theme of this blog is "What is dining?", so I would like to delve into the subject of dining. In my work as an interior designer, I have had an unforgettable conversation with a client.

They didn't use the dining table, and instead ate at the living room table in front of the sofa. It seemed like their usual routine was for the mother and child to eat side by side while watching TV.

A customer said to me, "When I went out to eat for the first time in a while, I suddenly thought, 'This is what this girl looks like when she eats.'"
At that time, he thought, "Let's buy a dining table."

It's not a matter of whether eating while watching TV is good or bad, but rather this is what sitting around the table is all about.

It doesn't matter whether it's a dining table or a low table, but I think of the dining room as a place where people meet.
I think a great dining room is a space in the home where face-to-face interaction is important. To achieve this, you need comfortable chairs to sit in for long periods of time, your favorite lighting, and plates that make food look delicious.
Meal time, tea time, and sometimes even time to help your kids with their homework. I think the dining room is a place for all of that.

If you have time, I would appreciate it if you could imagine how you would ``meet'' in the dining room of your home.
