Gabbeh is a handmade rug made from 100% wool that has been passed down from generation to generation as an important tool for the nomadic people living in the harsh environment of the mountainous regions of Iran.
Gabbehs are tightly knotted and woven by nomads, making them very durable and suitable for use across generations.
✴Floppy hair
Gabbehs with long pile woven from 100% wool may have fluffy loose fibers when you first start using them, but this is just excess hair that has become embedded in the pile and is falling out; it does not affect the quality.
It will usually settle down in about 1 to 2 months, but this varies from individual to individual, so if it bothers you, vacuuming frequently will help it settle down faster.
*For instructions on how to vacuum, please refer to the daily care section below.
✴ Uneven hair, stiff, curly hair
As you use your Gabbeh, you may notice long hairs sticking out from the surface. This is a characteristic of the yarn, which is made by hand-twisting wool, and they will occasionally come to the surface when the twist comes loose.
If you find any, use scissors to trim them to match the length of the surrounding hair.
You may also find stiff, tightly curled strands, but this is also unique to hand-spun yarn, and they will become softer if you unravel them by hand.
Both are made with the generosity that is unique to nomads, and there is no problem with quality.
It felt like we had discovered a ``nomad prank'' and it made us smile.
*How to care for Gabbeh*
✴Daily care
When cleaning your room, vacuum in the direction of the pile (grain) to remove dust.
Vacuuming in the direction of the rug will flatten the pile, preventing dirt and other debris from getting deep into the rug.

We do not recommend using a dust roller as it can leave glue at the ends of the bristles, making it difficult to remove dust, and can even tangle the bristles.

If you spill a drink or something
Immediately press the wet area with tissue or something highly absorbent to absorb the moisture.
Then, pat it with a well-wrung wet towel to remove any dirt.
*Due to the characteristics of wool, dirt does not easily penetrate the fibers themselves, but dirt may remain on the surface, so wipe off the dirt by tapping it.

✴If you are concerned about stains or odors
We recommend dry cleaning, which you can do yourself.
*Please prepare the following items: shampoo, sponge, and a well-wrung wet towel for washing your hair.
<How to dry clean>
1. Dilute a small amount of shampoo with water (50 to 100 times) and lather well with a sponge.
2. Place foam on the surface of the Gabbeh and pat it with a towel in the direction of the pile.
3. Use a clean towel to thoroughly wipe off the foam.
4. Dry thoroughly in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight.

*For a more comfortable use*
✴For a more comfortable use, dry the product inside out in the shade in a well-ventilated area once every few months.
When vacuuming a large carpet, fold it in half while it is still on the floor to allow air to pass through and release moisture.
✴If you are using your Gabbeh in a place exposed to direct sunlight, you can prevent it from fading by turning it over regularly.
✴It has a very high brushed texture, so even if you put something heavy on it, it won't leave any marks, but by moving it occasionally,
This can reduce the burden on the Gabbeh.
*Storage method*
If you plan to store the product for an extended period without using it, please note the following:
*Store in a place where moisture will not accumulate, and use insect repellent if necessary.
*Avoid locations that are subject to high temperatures, such as near heaters, or direct sunlight.
*Do not place harsh chemicals such as cleaning detergents nearby (as this may damage the material).
*When storing rolled up, make sure the outer side (the side with the pile) is facing inward.
*Cleaning and Maintenance*
✴This is a carpet that you can enjoy for a long time, so we recommend that you have it refreshed by having it washed by a professional hand-woven carpet cleaner every 5 to 10 years.
It can also remove stains that dry cleaning cannot remove.
✴If the fringe or edges become frayed or damaged, they can be repaired, so please take them to a carpet specialist as soon as possible to prevent the damage from spreading. Because they are hand-woven, any repairs are possible.
We also offer consultations regarding maintenance and cleaning.
