Hello!
The temperature is gradually rising and the number of sunny summer days is increasing!
It's getting hotter during the daytime when the sun is shining, and I'm starting to wear short sleeves more often, so it's been about a month since I first thought I needed to change my wardrobe. That's how it is.
Let's steadily get ready for summer!
What comes to mind when you think of summer?
I think of summer club training camps, camping in Izu with my family, and summer vegetables lined up on the dinner table at home.
My parents run a farm, so in the summer, we can eat as many vegetables as we want! As a vegetable lover, it's my favorite season! Green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, bitter melon... summer vegetable curry is the best! I also highly recommend the somen and green bean tempura set! (Green bean tempura goes well with salt, so be sure to try it ♪)
Yoshikawa loves vegetables, and this summer he is preparing to try his hand at growing a green curtain, so please join us if you're interested!
When you think of green curtains, you probably think of cucumbers and bitter melon, but it seems you can also grow passion fruit and mini melons!
But I still wanted to eat a lot, so I chose cucumber and bitter melon this time!
First, buy the items you need to make curtains.
There is no place to hang netting in the garden, so I bought two sets of tension rods, green netting, planter soil, etc.

(Hmm, maybe it would be cheaper to just buy bitter melon and cucumbers this year...)
That thought crossed my mind for a moment, but considering the joy of raising them, it's priceless!
There are some things money can't buy!
Put some gravel in the bottom of the planter,

Add the potting soil,

The foundation is complete!
Dig a hole in the soil to put the seedling in
Soak the seedlings in water

plant!

Completed! !
Now all that's left is to watch it grow with lots of love and plenty of water every day so that it doesn't run out of water!
There haven't been many sunny days recently so I wondered if it would be okay, but it has already grown 10cm in just two weeks since I planted it! Wow, that's fast!!
That was unnecessary worry!

If it grows well, I can't help but imagine how I'll eat it.
Cucumbers are great to eat with moromi miso or in a salad.
Bitter melon is best enjoyed in champuru! Stuffed bitter melon, bitter melon salad, and tsukudani...
Ah, I'm getting hungry (*_*)
The green onions that were planted in the flower bed in the garden were also moved to a planter.

We can expect green onions to be very useful in the coming season!
Then maybe I should plant some seasonal flowers in the flower bed next time.
I'm starting to get greedy and want to grow eggplants and green beans too.
But it would be sad if I got too greedy and failed, so this time I'll stick with cucumber and bitter melon!
If you have any recommended ways to eat it, please let me know.
If the green curtain is successful, I'd like to try growing eggplant and green beans next year!
