It's autumn.
Autumn is the season for appetite!

For me, it's autumn in Akiyama...hahaha, the best thing about autumn mountains is the colorful autumn leaves and the refreshing air.

The cherry blossoms along the Meguro River in front of Layout are gradually losing their leaves, and the river is becoming more transparent with each passing day, but the clear air and sunlight on the river surface make it sparkle, and there are ducks and turtles drying their shells, creating a peaceful atmosphere.

Just the other day, I went mandarin orange picking for the first time with my daughter and a friend's family!

Tangerines are rich in vitamins, minerals, and polyphenols, and are effective in supporting the arteries and preventing colds and viruses, making them essential nutrients for the body during this season.

The weather is good and the view is great

My heart was filled with excitement at the sight of the shining, ripe mandarin oranges (this is just my personal image), so I set out!

Hmm? Is this what tangerine picking feels like?
Umm, what about mandarin oranges?

There it was! There were little things popping up at the bottom of the tree.
Bend down, part the leaves, and snip them with scissors!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt this was inconsistent with what I had imagined...
However, that day was the last day for harvesting early-ripening mandarin orange trees.
Well, I guess that can't be helped.

Well then, have fun with it!

It's just the right height for my little girl,
While playing hide and seek among the leaves

"Let's play a game to see who can find the most beautiful and delicious looking one!"

I was determined not to lose!! But halfway through, I got absorbed in the game of hide-and-seek!
I wasn't even looking for oranges, so I thought, "Come on, come on..." (as expected).

There was a line of people near the entrance waiting to make fresh mandarin orange juice!

Everyone is lined up with peeled mandarins in their hands.
We lined up too, and finally it was our turn. We popped oranges into the analog machine, pulled the lever from top to bottom, and...
It came out little by little from below.

The juice splashed everywhere, and I worked hard to remove the pulp with chopsticks, until I was able to make two cups for my daughter and me, and then I gulped them down in no time! So quick!!

It was so delicious that my mother beamed, "Can I have another one?", referring to her favorite food.

I finished both cups in no time and then lined up two more times.

A little further down, there was a small, beautiful stream.
There, we were able to catch some crayfish!

While bathing in negative ions, I strain my eyes and desperately push aside the stones.
This has parents becoming quite fascinated...

And once again, the cycle of more living creatures in our home begins...oh no!

At 3 years old, catch and release is still difficult...

Afterwards, we took a short 20-minute round trip through the mountains.
A mini steam locomotive (Romancecar style?) slowly ascends and descends, turning around twice.
Get on

I enjoyed the big swing that two people could ride on (there was also a long slide, but it was endless so I decided not to tell anyone).

Making paper airplanes at the Children's Museum and flying them with all our might

We had a ton of fun!

When I got home, I made juice.
Adults are like, 'Whoa!'
This is it after all~
Not Campari Orange, but Campari Mandarin
Mmmmm, so fresh and delicious!!

In any case, it was a very important day of food education, where the children were able to see how the vegetables were growing, pick them themselves, and eat and taste them on the spot, using all five senses.

See you next time!
