August has passed in the blink of an eye and it's now September. It's autumn. Autumn.
Autumn is the season for reading. Autumn is the season for eating. I love both.
And it's autumn, the season for art.
So, being a fangirl, I decided to go and experience the autumn art season early.
I went to see the exhibition "Banksy: Genius or Rebel?"
From the movies I watched during the self-isolation period
This movie was very interesting and entertaining. I won't give away any spoilers, but the ending is quite ironic and very Banksy-esque.
There have been mixed reactions to this work, as it was not officially recognized by the artist and Banksy himself has mocked it as a "fake," but I still wanted to see it, so I went.
The event will be held in a complex experiential building that is neither a museum nor a gallery.
If you go with the mindset of experiencing Banksy rather than looking closely at his work, you'll understand. It's fun to go casually.
Everyone has their own opinions.
Genius or rebel? I vote for genius. And a highly planned and managerial genius at that.
If you only look at the surface impact of his work, such as the hotel he sarcastically described as "the hotel with the worst view in the world" located in front of the separation wall built by the Israeli government between Israel and Palestine, and the establishment of Dismaland, which has a worldview that is the complete opposite of Disneyland, he seems like a strange person, but when you look into it further... you can also think, "Wow, that's amazing!" Yes, I'm an easy guy who easily falls for strategies.
After leaving the Banksy exhibition, I had a beer (which was the fun part after all).
A year before the Banksy exhibition opened in Yokohama, a painting of a rat was discovered in Tokyo (though it was suspicious that an anonymous phone call was made to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government).
We all got excited talking about how it might have been a promotion for this special exhibition.
