What I'm Thinking About Interior Design Now Vol.13

About 20 years ago, most information about interior design, new furniture products, and brand information was obtained from magazines, but now it is possible to access this information from various websites on the Internet, and it seemed like it had become easier to find out all sorts of information. Recently, it has become even easier to find out information on social media such as Instagram, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, various brands are disseminating information through webinars, Instagram Live, YouTube, and other means.

The ease of being able to watch from home or work without having to go to a venue, and the ability to ask questions rather than just obtain information like when looking at a magazine or website, all at once feels like a whole new way of gathering and sharing information has spread.

I think that those who are broadcasting the content can't actually feel the audience's reactions in front of their eyes, so I wonder if it's different and difficult!?

Recently, I've been invited to so many webinars that I'm starting to get a bit of webinar fatigue, but I still enjoy watching the ones that interest me.

I wonder if overseas exhibitions such as Milan Salone will also change.
There's nothing we can do about it for now, but it would be so lonely if we had to stay online forever, so I hope we can go out and do things again soon.

Webinars are also a great option for someone like me who lives in a rural area. I hope to be able to strike a good balance between online and on-site visits in the future.

Both have their own unique merits, so I want to carefully choose for myself. I'd like to introduce some accounts that I've been following on Instagram recently and find helpful.

"ArkJournal"

An account for an interior design magazine launched in 2019 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Published twice a year.

There are about four different cover designs for each issue, and I want them all. I missed out on buying the latest issue, so I've been looking online, but I can't find anywhere that has it in stock. I wish it was available nearby, but I don't know where to buy it in Kanazawa. I don't even know if it's available anywhere. I found it on Amazon, but it was supposed to be around 3,000 yen, but it was over 10,000 yen, so I'll look elsewhere. It's in English, so I don't really understand the content, but just looking at the pictures is satisfying. I wish they'd release a Japanese version.

"licht_gallery"

This is the account of a gallery in Nakameguro. The furniture they offer is all very interesting, and I admire the owner's sense. It was on the cover and in the lead feature of the December issue of Casa Brutus, so I bought Casa for the first time in a while. The selection is unaffected by era, country, or whether it's famous or not. By digging deeper into the book and asking yourself, "Why did this design catch my eye?", you'll begin to understand your likes and dislikes. This will help you understand yourself. This line, along with "Designer furniture always has their own intentions and ideas, and considering these is inseparable from the furniture's inherent appeal," particularly resonated with me. I believe that once this perspective becomes established, the number of end users of designer furniture will increase.

"thestandardmanual"

This is an account for a household goods store in Fukuoka Prefecture. It's a store I'd like to visit when I go to Fukuoka.

It's a general store with a male-oriented feel, with many military and industrial accessories at affordable prices. I'm excited to browse the site, feeling like I'm on a treasure hunt for things I could use at home.

I bought Casa Brutus for the first time in a while.
