Many of the annual events were cancelled last year.
I wonder what will happen this year. I wonder if the Tokyo Olympics will go ahead, and whether the local fireworks festival that I look forward to every year, the launch site of which is just a one-minute walk away, will go ahead.
Last year, the interior design event Milano Salone was postponed several times and was not held in 2020, and in 2021 it was moved from its original April date to September.
It was three years ago, in 2018, that I finally got to go to the Milan Salone, a place I had always dreamed of visiting since I started working in interior design.
I still remember the joy I felt when I went to a trendy place that I had only seen in magazines and online. I was so excited that I nearly got a nosebleed.
Even though it will be held in September, I don't think I'll be able to attend this year, but I'm interested to see what kind of spaces and furniture the brands and designers who are creating trends while the world is affected by COVID-19 are creating.
There will likely be more information disseminated online than usual, so if the event is held, you'll be able to enjoy it without having to go in person.
Recently, many people have been considering purchasing a personal chair.
When it comes to furniture that most people want to have in their living room, the sofa is probably the most popular, but if you want to sit alone in luxury, I don't think there's anything more relaxing than a personal chair.
The advantages of a personal chair
1. You can create a personal space in the living room.
It's fun to sit on the sofa with a large group of people and have fun, but even when you're having a good time, sitting in a personal chair somehow allows you to create your own space.
Wingbacks, which have a high backrest and ears, narrow the field of vision when you sit, creating a closed-in space in a good sense. Originally, they were designed to protect the head from wind and the heat of the fireplace.
2. It adds an accent to the room.
A space with only a sofa can easily become monotonous, but adding a personal chair can add an accent to the space. Rather than placing a single-seater chair with the same shape as the sofa, placing a personal chair with a different design can act as an accent and provide a different seating experience than the sofa. It might be a good idea to keep the sofa upholstery simple and try something a little more adventurous with the upholstery of the personal chair.
3. It can be placed in a small room.
Even if you can't fit a sofa in your room due to the size of the room or other things you want to put there, you can still put a personal chair in. Even if you live alone in a one-room apartment, you can create a relaxing space next to your bed in your bedroom.
4. There are places where it can be useful even if you change your residence.
In a studio apartment, it can be used as a place to relax other than the bed. When you move to a slightly larger room, you can place it next to the sofa. When you build a house, you can keep it in the living room or bedroom.
In any case, it's furniture that you can find a place for even if you move.
Because of this, I would like you to choose furniture that you like as soon as possible and that you can use for a long time, even if it is a little expensive.
5. There are various shapes
Some chairs have reclining functions, swivel seats, and are rocking chairs (that can rock back and forth), allowing you to adjust the chair to suit your mood and actions while sitting.
Just sitting in a rocking chair at home and rocking aimlessly can help you relax.
When buying furniture, you might want to consider a personal chair.
This year, for the first time in two years, I went to Kenrokuen Garden to see the cherry blossoms. Last year, I refrained from going, but this year, I avoided the crowded times, didn't stop too much, didn't eat any cherry blossom viewing dumplings (I recommend the natto mochi from the dumpling shop inside Kenrokuen), and didn't drink any beer, and I was able to enjoy the cherry blossoms. Kenrokuen Garden will be open to the public free of charge for about a week to coincide with the cherry blossoms' blooming.
Of course, Kenrokuen is great, but the cherry blossoms in the nearby Kanazawa Castle Park are also recommended. Stone walls, castle, and cherry blossoms.
Next time Sakura blooms, I want to have a party while drinking beer without any worries.

This is my personal chair, a Knee chair that I've been using for about 15 years.
