What I'm Thinking About Interior Design Now Vol.22

I went to see the solo exhibition of glass artist Arinaga Kota in Kanazawa City.

I must admit that this was the first time I had heard of Arinaga's name, but I had a friend who liked his glass work, and the exhibition was being held at a gallery run by a senior colleague, so I decided to go.

Up until now, I've been interested in works by artists, but I haven't had much experience with them, and I've avoided them because I feel they have a somewhat unsophisticated feel to them.
This exhibition showed such delicate and beautiful glass works that it made me realise that this way of thinking was a prejudice born of my ignorance. It really made me reflect on what I had been doing up until then.

When I visited, it was the day after online sales had started and about 80% of the items were sold out.

Apparently, orders came in all at once from all over the country.

Among them, the pale pink series called Usubeni-iro caught my eye and made me want to buy it.

Up until now, pink has been a color I would have completely ignored, but this is really beautiful.

It seemed like having just one in your home would completely change the atmosphere of your home, but... they were all SOLD.

As he lives in Ishikawa Prefecture, I am looking forward to his next solo exhibition, which I don't know when it will be, and patiently hoping that a pale pink will come to my home.
I regret not going a day earlier.

As I write this, the cherry blossoms are just starting to bloom. The temperature is gradually rising, the cold days are finally coming to an end, and sunny days are increasing in the Hokuriku region, making me, an indoor person, want to go outside. Spring is my favorite season.

This is the season when you might feel like redecorating your room.

Here are some easy ways to change the look of a room:
I'm sure you can all think of these things, but I hope this helps.

Change the cushion cover

You can easily change the atmosphere of a room by simply changing the side cushions on your sofa.
I think this is the easiest way. No matter how many cushion covers you have, they won't get in the way, and you can buy them easily. It might be a good idea to choose a pattern or color that you wouldn't normally buy.
Even if you fail, the damage will be kept to a minimum.
In our house, we signal the end of winter and the arrival of spring by changing the cushion covers and sofa blankets from wool to cotton.

Try changing the curtains

It would be a pain to change this in every room, but it would be a good idea to just change it in the living room like you would a cushion cover. It takes up a larger area of the room than a cushion cover, so it has a huge effect.

Change your slippers (room shoes)

You can feel the seasons through the soles of your feet. Your mood will change as the temperature goes from warm to dry.

Try decorating with flowers

This is something I've been wanting to try recently. I used to feel a little embarrassed about decorating with flowers, but I'm learning that it's a good way to appreciate seasonal things and feel the changes of the seasons.

Change your fragrance

Scents are also a great way to feel the seasons. For the past few years, in our home, we've been using Diptyque's Hud Bua fragrance candle, which has a wood-smoked scent, during the colder months. When the weather gets warmer, we switch to Kurti's Te diffuser. I think scent is also important in creating a space.

Try changing the lag

This is the same as curtains. Please consult with the layout manager for more details.

These may all be commonplace, but I think they are effective in giving your room a seasonal feel. Give them a try.
