Play, Work Vol.4

"Business Manager Maesato Vol.4: State of Emergency Lifted"

What will become clear after COVID-19?

The store has been closed for quite a long time since April 3rd, but when was the last time we were closed for such a long time?

I can't quite remember, but I don't think there have been any since I entered the workforce.

It was such an abnormal situation, but I don't want to experience it again, so I hope the second wave will be mild.

For retail stores, a long-term closure is the most frightening situation, as it can lead to customers leaving.

What if something that you've always taken for granted suddenly makes you think, "Huh? I could do without it."

It's going to take a long time to pull it back again.

My regular massage parlor, who is a real pain, said that they had had a lot of cancellations since April, and that with nothing to do, he had been drinking too much alcohol since noon, which made him regret it.

We comforted each other by saying things like, "How we interacted with customers before COVID-19 will become clear after COVID-19."

Even so, I always feel great after the treatment! Thank you as always!!

Traps that will become apparent after the declaration is lifted

Many companies have had to ask their employees to stay at home this time, but for those who "work for money," this is a blissful time.

Because you get paid even if you don't work.

Even with telework, companies that have no track record of hiring employees won't know what criteria to use, so they won't get caught if they do it haphazardly.

In contrast to that, there are people who are fighting for their lives, so the world may seem unfair, but perhaps it can't be helped since it's a matter of the meaning of existence.

However, after COVID-19, companies will likely begin to officially adopt remote work and optimize their operations, and I think there will be quite a few cases where people will think, "Huh? We don't need this person anymore."

After all, if you try to implement telework properly, it will tend to be extremely performance-based.

Especially as a company, it is during these difficult times due to the coronavirus pandemic that they will be able to see whether employees have been working hard on something, imagining a post-COVID start, or whether they have been slacking off, and companies will not pay employees who say, "Just do it the same way as before."

I think that in the future, companies will increasingly be questioned as to whether they are truly necessary to society and customers, and employees will increasingly be questioned as to whether they are truly necessary to the company.
