"Ape Maesato Vol.1 A man's romance is full of danger"
The title "Ape" comes from the Honda Ape100 motorcycle that I fell in love with at first sight and impulsively bought the other day.
Amid the impact of COVID-19, when I was thinking about how I could quickly get to the store while avoiding contact with others as much as possible, a small bike came to mind.
This Ape100 is a small and super cute bike. (I'll tell you about this another time.)
moving
I moved in March of this year, not because I found it difficult to tell my business partners that I live in Yokohama, but because Matsuko Deluxe bluntly told me on national television, "The place where you live is not called Yokohama."
I moved to a place where I could easily ride my bike to Nakameguro, where the store is located (it's rented, of course).
While we were looking for a stylish property, my son, who happened to come with us to look at the property, fell in love with the attic at first sight and insisted, "This is the place!", so we decided on this one. (Love at first sight is in our blood.) This house has a very unique design and looks like it will be enjoyable for many years to come.
Thank you R-STORE!

A man's romance
"The Attic," which my son fell in love with at first sight, is certainly a man's dream.
You can now lay Plarail tracks in any direction, and mommy won't destroy them by poking them with the vacuum cleaner. The ceiling is low, so it's a bit difficult for daddy, and I'm sure you'll dry up in the heat in the summer, but son, you can enjoy the romance to the fullest.
However, a man's romance is always fraught with danger.
My father, who had been lured in by the sweet sound of romance and suffered both physically and mentally, knew that the large opening in the attic staircase was a trap hidden by the word romance.
A fall would definitely result in serious injury, and my son is definitely the type who will fall soon. (Yes, it's in his blood.)
I really wanted to install a sturdy fence to prevent falls, but since this is a rental property I felt that if I did something drastic I would regret it when I canceled the lease, so I decided to simply make a cover to cover the opening.

DIY
This is a super easy DIY project that involves purchasing scrap wood from Super Viva Home Toyosu, where I've been using it since I moved, and then spray painting it.
Since they are scraps, the materials vary, but I bought ones that were roughly the right size.
They will cut it for you if you ask, but it was busy so I just took it home as it was.
Since this was my son's first time spray painting, I covered it with cardboard to make sure there would be no spills, then gave him some nonsensical advice: "Spraying is all about rhythm and swing!" and we started painting.
For some reason, my son carefully sprayed even the areas where there were no boards, and as a result, the paint that had gotten on the cardboard stuck to the bottom of his shoes as he walked around, and the bottoms and toes of his shoes started to turn slightly yellow. (I'm glad he wore his old shoes.)

Now it's dad's turn.
I attached a piece of wood to the back of the board to prevent it from falling, and since I was worried that people might hit their heads on it when climbing up, I added hinges so that it could be folded up.
After installing it, I saw my son climb onto the board with a smile and say "Wow!", and I have a feeling that the day when the board will break and fall is not far off.

If I block it this much, it shouldn't fall...

It is foldable so that an adult would hit their head when climbing on it.
My son and I had a lot of fun making this DIY project, which cost about 3,000 yen and was done using scrap wood, spray paint, and metal fittings.
This house still looks like it can be enjoyed.
Well then!
