This is the 12th installment of Hiroki Sueyoshi's blog series from FAH Co., Ltd.
Based on my reflections from the last time, I have started to keep to a regular pace when writing my blog.
Sorry, I'm a day late submitting this blog.
The other day, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Maeda. He told me, "It must be hard to keep going steadily."
I honestly thought, "You're right."
I'm not usually good at doing things consistently, so I can't do it unless I'm asked to, so I'm once again grateful for the opportunity to write a blog.
There's something I've been thinking about a lot lately. "There are no special techniques or secrets to success in work."
When I was young, I thought that the great people in the world had some kind of special ability or secret technique.
Of course, they are all incredibly smart. But, "In the end, it's all about building things up little by little." I was embarrassed to realize this when I was over 30.
Now, let's get to the main topic.
"The debate over what is the most important thing in interior design"
This time, we chose a theme that would most likely liven up a drinking party for people who work in the interior design industry.
I am often asked by both professionals and amateurs what the most important thing in interior design is.
Sofa? Table? Chair? Rug? Floor? Wall? TV? Kitchen? Bathroom? etc.
A lot of important looking things keep coming out.
I think everything is correct.
But honestly, there is no answer to this kind of question, and it differs from person to person. Sometimes I think to myself, "I don't know anything about that." (Wry smile)
However, that doesn't really answer the question, so I found a useful answer.
I always answer that the most important thing in interior design is, "The person who will live there and how they want to live."
I work in interior design, but ultimately it all depends on the people who live there.
Now, let me digress from a certain title...
I make a living in interior design, so I probably have more knowledge, experience, and the resulting sense than most people.
However, I don't have a one-size-fits-all answer for interior design.
To be precise, there is no such answer.
There are many interior design professionals out there, but I try to think, "If I were you (the customer), what products would I choose?"
The main characters are the people who live there.
In that sense, I'm like a chameleon actor (that's a bit of an exaggeration). I become more of a customer than a customer, while still retaining my knowledge of interior design (especially furniture).
This is actually a lot of fun.
For every 100 people, there are 100 different interiors.
Then one day, I realized that there are an infinite number of great interiors, so my goal in life and work has become to be involved in as many great interiors as possible.
Going back to the topic at hand, the important thing is "the people who will live there and how they want to live." That is, how much interest they will have in the interior design. How much they will enjoy the interior design.
I think this is the very most important thing.
What I want to say is that I want more people to love interior design. I believe that is the mission of those involved in interior design. I am writing this blog to inspire that. After facing this theme today, another answer has come to mind.
What is the most important thing in interior design?
Someone who conveys the joy and culture of interior design.
If you're not satisfied with the answer, sit back and relax, have a drink, and think about what's most important to you in your home decor.
What is interior design? Interesting.

SUEYOSHI HIROKI
Representative Director of FAH Co., Ltd.
Born in Hiroshima in 1985, raised in Kyoto, and lived in Canada for one year.
At the age of 20, she entered an interior design shop and was so impressed that she decided to work in the interior design industry. From the age of 23 to 35, she worked at an interior design shop in Hiroshima. She strives to be a "chameleon coordinator" who can materialize the client's ideal lifestyle and interior design, rather than catering to her own preferences.
FAH Co., Ltd. was established in 2020.
I am constantly challenging myself to make interior design fun, whether it be for private homes, model homes and rooms, or commercial (hotels, restaurants, etc.) product development.
