Kanto is in the rainy season
I get excited when the weather is sunny every once in a while, but how are you all doing?
It's going to get hot from now on, so let's get some preparations ready for summer.
This year's plum project involves pickling Nankou plums, rock sugar, and vinegar into plum syrup so that my daughter can drink it.
We use a lot of pickled ginger in our home, and we prepare plenty of it during the new ginger season.
Red shiso syrup is also effective in preventing summer fatigue!
I look forward to seeing the results change every year.

Well, the other day I went potato digging in my parents' field!
We dig up potatoes every year around this time when the soil is dry, so there's no point in wondering why we do it during the rainy season, so we check the weather forecast and decide that now is the time!

Just three months after planting the seed potatoes in March, so many potatoes have grown.
What a productive vegetable!
First, remove all stems and leaves that are above the soil.
♪Go ahead, there are still more sweet potatoes to come out of♪
And my daughter was excited.

Then, put a shovel a little further away and dig up the soil.
From here on, we start the process by hand, carefully digging and finding each item, checking them one by one with our hands.

The adorable potatoes come out rolling and tumbling, no two of them the same shape.
"I was sleeping soundly and comfortably in my soft and fluffy bed!" said the angry child.
"Ahh, I'm finally outside! It feels great! Thank you!" said Nico Nico.
"I wanted to grow up a little bit more... grumble..." says Suneta.
All kinds of kids come out one after another
"Mamaaaa! I found Heart♡!" she exclaimed excitedly.
I'm excited to see who will be next.
The next step is to collect the potatoes and put them in boxes.
Hmm? He seems silent.
At times like this, I have a bad feeling
He folded up his T-shirt and stuffed as many potatoes as he could into it, then carried them around, sweating profusely. His concentration at times like this was incredible!

You played a part!
Just seeing that happy, amazing smile
I don't mind a muddy and stretched out T-shirt either.
Then take it home
Big team
Small team
Group into boxes for injured teams
Whew, thank you for your hard work this year.

Still, potato dishes are invincible and limitless!
Just thinking about it makes you come up with one dish after another, doesn't it?
Nikujaga (meat and potato stew), potato salad, croquettes, vichyssoise, buttered potatoes, potato chips, mashed potatoes, French fries, gratin, etc.
Plus, there are plenty of menu items that both kids and adults will love.
You can become the king of vegetables! (Although the color is rather dull...)

Recently, I've been eating only potato dishes like this and I'm getting a little tired of them. I'm constantly glaring at the potatoes in the kitchen.
I said, "Well, what do you want to do today?"
Well, you can figure that out for yourself.
And today I lost again and it's croquettes.

As an aside, in France, potatoes and apples are both called "pomme."
The official name of the potato is "pomme de terre" - apple of the earth!
Apparently this is because the texture of raw potatoes is similar to that of an apple, but I've never bit into a raw potato so I wonder how it is?
There was a side note 2 ^^
Despite their appearance, potatoes are rich in vitamin C!
Another great thing about it is that it is wrapped in starch, so it doesn't break easily even when heated.
Potassium helps prevent blood pressure from rising, excretes salt, and reduces swelling.
It's also packed with dietary fiber! Besides the carbohydrates that provide energy, it's actually a vegetable with excellent nutritional balance.
Because vegetables are available in supermarkets all year round, you can learn about the season by harvesting them.
I thought it would be nice to change the cooking method depending on the season and make it delicious and enjoyable to eat.
See you next time!
