Staff SA's Food and Childcare

It's been so hot every day, how are you all doing?

On my days off, I usually don't go outside and just watch the balcony pool.

Every day I have to put up with my daughter's cycle of pool → snacks → YouTube → pool → snacks → YouTube...

Even for me, the fun is finally here!

What kind of summer recreation would my daughter enjoy, away from her daily YouTube routine, and where she could discover new things and get in touch with nature, and where the whole family could play together?

Yes! "Camp"!

And this time it's food in the camp!!

I would like to talk about...

Our camping style is like living outside like you're at home, so we have a huge amount of gear...

My husband, who thinks that the limit of what can fit in a car is the limit of camping items, stuffs the back of the 4WD vehicle, filling the seats, and even the carry-on... I'm impressed with his packing skills, he doesn't miss even the slightest gap! That's how we packed... (His opinion is reasonable, as we'll have less firewood and food on the way back, yes.)

Camping is fun enough just being in nature and spending time there, but the most enjoyable thing is the food! The food!

It's no exaggeration to say that this is the real thrill!

Even everyday meals taste twice as good when you eat them outside! No, maybe five or even ten times better?

I have time and not much to do

Another great thing about it is that you can cook it slowly over time.

Compared to the usual 3-minute cooking where you have to brush off the voices of "I'm hungry!" and "Is dinner ready yet?" and quickly make something while pressed for time,

Haaa♡

Being able to sit in nature with a beer in hand and talk to the ingredients as I cook is like paradise to me!

While nibbling away

Prosciutto, cheese, and hors d'oeuvres

Tuna and salmon ceviche-style carpaccio

Roasted Edamame Peperoncino

Bonfire

Aren't bonfires romantic?

The work of splitting firewood and burning it, the irregular crackling sounds of the fire, and just watching the warm, flickering flames are relaxing and relaxing chill-out time♪

However,

But!

It's the perfect heat for Chinese cuisine!

The bonfire was so strong lol

It's all happening at a rapid pace.

This is boiled lamb (usually beef), and the ingredients are lamb, glass noodles, wood ear mushrooms, celery, mushrooms, cabbage, herbs, etc. It is a Chinese dish with a spicy soup made with lots of whole chili peppers.

Boiled mutton

It's so delicious and spicy that you won't be able to stop eating it, but be careful of your stomach the next morning!

Smoke

Even though it's difficult to smoke in our apartment, we take this opportunity to do so.

Roast beef is seared on the surface and then slowly cooked in a smoker with herbs at a low temperature while developing a smoky aroma.

Smoked Roast Beef

I forgot to take a photo of it being smoked...

It has a lovely rosy color and is seasoned with fresh black pepper and mustard!

Other foods that are delicious when smoked include raw sausages, spare ribs, chicken breast, cheese, boiled eggs, potatoes, and salt, but be careful not to get carried away and overdo it.

Charcoal

Dutch oven cooking is also a highlight!

Chinese marinated whole chicken is poured over with hot oil to give it a crispy skin.

Place chunky vegetables underneath and cover.

The meat is slowly steamed over charcoal from both above and below, and the far infrared rays make it moist and juicy.

Stove

Dynamic seafood dishes include aquapazza and ajillo

Be careful with this as the white wine can go overboard!

Finish off your acquapazza with some short pasta

Red sea bream aquapazza (I can't see the fish...)

Ajillo is a must-have with a baguette

Ajillo

*It's not the most eco-friendly option, but I used an aluminum tray this time because it makes cleanup easier.

House made

After cooling down after a dip in the river, I poured a generous amount of candied lemon and yuzu jam into my Earl Grey tea.

A relaxing break

Phew~♪

Morning

I can't decide whether to have Japanese or Western breakfast, so I alternate it every day.

On this day, we had a Western-style BLTEA sandwich.

Simple noodles and tacos are the go-to for lunch.

Here!

Highly nutritious "Nikkori Genki Soup"

Mmmmm♡♡ Delicious!!

I feel so much better now

Children

Just being outside makes me feel lively

Just eating outside makes me excited

Just sleeping outside in a tent makes me nervous

There are many things that are more important than paper and pencil, or tablets.

I think parents really feel that way...

So, this time we took our time making and eating lots of food! That was the story of camping food.

We still have a lot of stressful days ahead, but let's try to stay refreshed!

By the way, rugs are great for camping!!

See you next time!
