"Mikity", who is particular about "beauty", will tell you about the sexiness of your room.

Color Effects

The technique known as "color coordination" is relevant to interior design, fashion, makeup, and even food, and plays an important role in our lives.

Colors have more power than we realize, and they have a huge impact on our emotions and behavior.

The image of color

People have an image associated with each color.
For example, "white."
There are only positive impressions, such as calling a win a white victory, wedding dresses being pure white, and God for some reason being depicted as white.

People may have a very positive image of white.

Also, when it comes to traffic lights, we can immediately react and act, such as "Stop when you see red! Be careful when you see yellow!", and it is said that blue food makes you lose your appetite. It is strange how we can act reflexively or change our mood just by seeing a certain color.

The visual effect of color

Color has a visual effect that is common to many people.

First, the temperature.
Just as blue is used to represent water and red is used to represent fire, colors are related to the sensations of cold and warm. A hot pack in a blue package doesn't seem to be warm, and a cold pack in a red package doesn't seem to be cold.

Next is the sense of distance and area.
Bright and vibrant warm colors are called "advancing colors" and appear to stand out, while dark and cool colors are called "receding colors" and appear to recede.

The Baluchi tribe is known for their use of advancing and retreating colors.
The bright colored threads, which are the advancing colors, stand out against the background colors of dark navy and deep red, which are the fading colors, and this is why enthusiasts call them ``jewels that glow in the dark.''

Also, light colors such as white are called "expanding colors" and dark colors are called "contracting colors." Did you know that the sizes of black and white Go stones are different? The black stones are 22.2 mm and the white stones are 21.9 mm. This is to make the expanding color white and the contracting color black appear to be the same size.

Finally, there's the "weight" and "hardness and softness."
Color also affects our perception of heavy/light, hard/soft. Interestingly, if you have a white suitcase and a black suitcase, even if they weigh the same, the black suitcase will feel heavier. Even if you have long hair, the impression you get will be completely different depending on whether it's black or blonde.

The psychological effects of color

Colors also have a psychological effect. Just like when you buy lipstick that you think is a nice color and you find yourself looking at yourself in the mirror over and over again, having your favorite color nearby makes you excited, happy, and somehow enriches your soul.

From here on, we will explain in detail the image that each color evokes and also introduce the rugs!

Red: Passion, vibrancy, life

It has an energetic and lively image and stimulates conversation, so it is suitable for living rooms and dining rooms where people gather. In Sentai shows, the red ranger always stands in the center, so it is a vibrant color.

Red is the most representative color of tribal rugs, and it evokes the strength and vitality of the tribe.

Yellow: bright, fun, sunshine

It has a bright image like the sun, and just looking at it makes you feel happy, which makes communication smoother. It also stimulates the intellect and activates action.

It's also great for a child's room that has a fun atmosphere.

Beige: gentleness, security, nature

A beige-based rug creates such a gentle impression. It's a color that relieves tension, so try incorporating it when you want to create a room with a sense of security and calm.

Blue: Intelligence, freshness, sky and sea

Blue is a representative cool color. It has a calming effect and makes you feel relaxed. Like denim, it goes well with any color. As it fades, it also has the effect of making a room look larger.

Pairing it with a dark floor creates a more elegant and calm space.

Green: Calm, peaceful, forest

Green is a neutral color that is neither warm nor cool. It is reminiscent of plants and has a soothing effect on the soul. It harmonizes with any color, making it a color that is easy to incorporate into interiors.

A long-pile Gabbeh carpet feels just like grass, making you want to lie down on it.

Orange: Friendliness, liveliness, vitality

Orange has a healthy and energetic image, but orange mixed with white creates a refreshing look, while orange mixed with black creates a calming atmosphere. Also, since orange approaches brown when its brightness and saturation are reduced, it looks good when paired with dark wooden furniture.

It gives the room such a mature atmosphere.

Enjoy the colors

In this column, we introduced Layout's color techniques using rugs.

Choose the colors you want to use based on the purpose of the room and how you want it to look, such as "I want the room to look cool in the summer, so I'll lay down a blue Gabbeh rug," or "Since this is a room where people gather, I'll lay down a warm-colored rug like red or yellow."

And while technique is important, I think the most important thing is to incorporate your favorite colors that enrich your soul and to imagine what kind of life you would like to live.

The more you learn about colors, the more fascinating they become. Romance between men and women is called "iro-koi" (color love), "the deepening colors of autumn" expresses charm, and "coloring" expresses affection. Learning about colors may add depth to your life and daily life.
