Baluchi rugs are probably what many people think of when they think of "tribal rugs."
This rug was probably woven by the Baluchis in the Khorasan region of northeastern Iran, and it is a cool piece with its typical Baluchi red and black combination and linear, tribal design.

Even though they are all red rugs, each and every one of them uses yarn with a different red color, so when I look at the many rugs I am always amazed at how many different shades of red there are and how different shades of red can make a rug look.

The "red" of this rug is a slightly brownish apple red where the pile remains, and a lighter red in the worn areas.
In the picture it may look more reddish brown than it does to the naked eye.

The warp and weft threads are cotton, and it is believed to be a vintage item that has been used locally for a long time, so the cotton threads are slightly visible where the pile has rubbed, giving it an attractive, worn texture.

This is a recommended Baluch as its smooth texture makes it easy to use even under a dining table.

説明
Tribal Rug

Tribal rugs are a culture that has been passed down for a long time as tools for the daily lives of nomadic people who live with sheep and goats. They are used for a wide range of purposes, including as floor coverings, as bags to carry food and daily necessities, as dividers inside tents, and as curtain curtains to hang over entrances. They are designed for continued use, so they are highly functional and durable.

It is said that the designs of tribal rugs are influenced by all things related to daily life, such as the different cultures, climates, animals that live with each tribe and region, and familiar plants and flowers, and you can feel the commitment of nomads who seek color in their lives.

Among the many handmade rugs, tribal rugs are the ones that highlight the individuality of the weaver, and the designs that arise from their free-spirited style are also a major attraction.

Baluchi
A tribe living in eastern Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The linear geometric patterns and deep, muted colors seem to represent the strength of these creatures who live in an environment that is harshly dry and subject to strong sunlight.
Many settled Baluchi people live in towns and villages in eastern Iran, and mothers set up looms in their homes and weave rugs in between housework and work. Lead more [close]
