Baluchi prayer rugs come in a variety of designs, but this one has many motifs on top that resemble the domes of mosques.
Above the dome is an eight-pointed star, which is said to represent happiness, hope, and protection from evil.

Prayer rugs originally had their roots as rugs used by nomads during prayer, but in Iran today you no longer see people praying using handmade prayer rugs.
Although it is not actually used in prayer, it has been passed down among the Baluchi people as a design pattern.
Beneath the mihrab, a triangular roof motif that indicates the direction of prayer, is a cute little creature that resembles a short-legged dachshund.

It also looks great when styled with a similar yellow Gabbeh to match the brown-orange of the field.

説明
Tribal Rug

Tribal rugs are a culture that has been passed down for a long time as tools for the daily lives of nomadic people who live with sheep and goats. They are used for a wide variety of purposes, including as floor coverings, as bags to carry food and daily necessities, as dividers inside tents, and as curtain curtains to hang over entrances. They are designed for continued use, so they are highly functional and durable.

It is said that the designs of tribal rugs are influenced by all things related to daily life, such as the different cultures, climates, animals that live with each tribe and region, and familiar plants and flowers, and you can feel the commitment of nomads who seek color in their lives.

Among the many handmade rugs, tribal rugs are the ones that highlight the individuality of the weaver, and the designs that emerge from their free-spirited style are also a major attraction.

Baluchi
A tribe living in eastern Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The linear geometric patterns and deep, muted colors seem to represent the strength of these creatures who live in an environment that is harshly dry and subject to strong sunlight.
Many settled Baluchi people live in towns and villages in eastern Iran, and mothers set up looms in their homes and weave rugs in between housework and work. Lead more [close]
