A vintage rug with a geometric design named after a group of Baluchi people called Yaqub Khani.

The main reason I bought this rug was the red color.
Several shades of red are used in one rug, and the combination of the weaver's sense of color and the unexpected abrasion (a gradation created by uneven dyeing of the yarn) makes you realize that red rugs are truly beautiful.

It is a vintage item estimated to be around 40 to 50 years old, so it has likely been used and cared for locally, with occasional repairs being made.

The edges on both sides are made of four layers of dark blue wool, with the color thread changing in places.
The way the wool warp threads and tufted baft weft threads are woven gives the rug a supple, vintage luster and soft pile that feels wonderful against the skin.

It looks stylish when paired with mortar or gray tile floors, or chic when styled with dark brown walnut flooring.

Layout's vintage rugs are thoroughly cleaned locally three to four times, and then repaired and finished for maintenance in our own local workshop to give customers peace of mind before they purchase the rug.
After arriving in Japan, the rugs undergo a final check by Layout staff, and only those that are ready to be loved for a long time are introduced as "Layout quality" rugs.

If you have any requests for gift wrapping, a specific date and time, etc., you can enter them on the cart screen.

スタッフコメント
▽The pattern speaks▽

Fragments of a city submerged in red soil.
Swept away by the wind and buried in sand, the pattern still remains, as if calling out to you.
The form in which rules and fluctuations coexist is like a silent letter from an age without words.
The people who once lived here no longer speak, but the patterns speak.
A firm will in the silence. The weight of time and a distant wish reach here and now.

This Baluchi rug features a beautiful, rich contrast of deep red and black. The pattern is reminiscent of temple stone inscriptions and murals from ancient cities, almost like symbols emerging from ruins. If you were to incorporate it into your interior, it would pair well with vintage wooden furniture and leather sofas. It brings a sense of calm and dignity to the space, while also playing a central role in drawing the eye.
This rug is like a "message left behind." Every time you look at it, a new mystery appears and disappears... If it resonates with you, why not bring it home and try to decipher the message from the rug? Lead more [close]
説明
Tribal Rug

Tribal rugs are a culture that has been passed down for a long time as tools for the daily lives of nomadic people who live with sheep and goats. They are used for a wide variety of purposes, including as floor coverings, as bags to carry food and daily necessities, as dividers inside tents, and as curtain curtains to hang over entrances. They are designed for continued use, so they are highly functional and durable.

It is said that the designs of tribal rugs are influenced by all things related to daily life, such as the different cultures, climates, animals that live with each tribe and region, and familiar plants and flowers, and you can feel the commitment of nomads who seek color in their lives.

Among the many handmade rugs, tribal rugs are the ones that highlight the individuality of the weaver, and the designs that arise from their free-spirited style are also a major attraction.

Baluchi
A tribe living in eastern Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The linear geometric patterns and deep, muted colors seem to represent the strength of these creatures who live in an environment that is harshly dry and subject to strong sunlight.
Many settled Baluchi people live in towns and villages in eastern Iran, and mothers set up looms in their homes and weave rugs in between housework and work. Lead more [close]
